5 Stars – A Grand Slam of Emotion, Swoon, and Heart

I’ve never hidden the fact that single parent sports romances are my kryptonite—but Spotlight, the final book in Rebecca Jenshak’s Holland Brothers series, didn’t just break my kryptonite… it obliterated it. Is there even a word for something stronger than kryptonite? Because that’s what this book is. It’s next-level, heart-thumping, soul-hugging magic.

Who would’ve thought the youngest Holland brother, Flynn, would knock it out of the ballpark with this swoon-worthy single mom baseball romance? But he did—and then some.

What elevates this story beyond the typical sports romance is the bond that forms between Flynn and five-year-old Greer, the daughter of single mom Olivia. Greer lights up every scene she’s in with pure sunshine, and there’s one particular moment toward the end that had me sobbing—like, ugly sobbing—into my blanket. This book didn’t just make me feel, it cracked me wide open with its blend of laughter, passion, vulnerability, and family love.

Olivia and Flynn’s story begins with a fleeting, magical night of conversation on a New York balcony—only for Flynn to disappear by morning. Back in her hometown, running her family’s bookshop and supporting her author sister, Olivia files him away as a moment of what-could-have-been. That is, until Flynn walks right back into her world… and her heart.

Now playing for the hometown Mustangs, Flynn is battling a bittersweet reality: thrilled to be back near his brothers, but licking the wounds of being released from the big leagues. Imagine his shock when he comes face-to-face with Olivia—his brother’s girlfriend’s best friend, the woman he never forgot. From that second chance spark, the chemistry ignites all over again.

Rebecca Jenshak poured so much depth into this story—Flynn’s evolving connection with a struggling team who, despite their losing record, offer him something more valuable than a title. Olivia’s charming grandfather, who writes daily lunchbox notes to her grandmother, is the kind of wholesome touch that made me melt. The way Flynn bonds with Greer? Heart-melting perfection. And let’s not forget the emotional layers of family on both sides, the slow-build trust, and the epilogue to end all epilogues.

Spotlight doesn’t just deserve its name—it belongs in the spotlight. Powerful, passionate, and unforgettable, this one delivers a five-star performance on every level.
